San Luis Obispo Police Department Arrests Suspect in Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) Investigation
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — “The San Luis Obispo Police Department is part of the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) which partners with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to investigate crimes involving Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Electronic Service Providers such as Facebook, Google, Reddit, etc. will generate Cybertips if someone using their platform is found to be uploading videos or images of child pornography. These Cybertips are then forwarded to the appropriate jurisdiction for investigation depending on the geolocation of the IP address.
After a complex investigation involving sixteen separate Cybertips and over 1000 reported files of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), San Luis Obispo Police detectives arrested Ivan Cobarrubias for felony possession of child pornography on April 10, 2025.
Detectives served a search warrant on Cobarrubias’ residence and vehicle on the 1200 block of Murray Street and seized several electronic devices. Cobarrubias was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail for the following charges:
PC 311.11(A) – Felony Possession and Transmission of Child Sexual Abuse Material
PC 311.11(C) – Felony Possession Of Matter Depicting Minor Engaging In Sexual Conduct With More Than 600 Images And Portraying Sexual Sadism And Masochism
PC 311.1(a) – Felony Possession of Matter Depicting Minor Engaging in Sexual Conduct
