SANTA CRUZ, CA — On the night of Monday April 21st, officers with the Santa Cruz Police Department responded to the vicinity of 111 Mission Street following reports of a vehicle accident. Witnesses reported that a driver had crashed through a fence and rolled the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle behind 777 Chestnut Street and conducted an investigation into the incident. According to the initial findings, the driver traveled from Mission Street, entered the property of 125 Mission Street, crashed through a fence, continued down an embankment, and went off a 10-foot ledge before striking a building.
The driver was able to exit the vehicle independently and informed officers that he had consumed alcohol prior to the crash. He was cited for driving under the influence and subsequently released to Medical Valley Center for treatment. The driver sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening. The investigation remains ongoing.
