Convicted Felon Arrested After Deputies Find Weapons, Drugs, and Stolen Property During Traffic Stop
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — During the week of April 9th, deputies with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after reportedly observing multiple vehicle code violations. During the stop, deputies contacted the driver, identified as 58-year-old Jose Martinez. Martinez is reportedly a resident of Watsonville and is a convicted felon. While speaking with Martinez, deputies observed a concealed fixed blade knife and marijuana inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered additional items, including a ghost gun, credit cards belonging to other individuals, methamphetamine, and a Billy club. Following the discovery, Martinez was arrested and booked on several charges. The charges include possession of a controlled substance while armed, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed dagger, and misappropriation of lost property.
