U.S. Marshals Apprehend Livermore Road Rage Shooting Suspect in Seattle

LIVERMORE , CA — U.S. Marshals apprehended a man in Seattle suspected of shooting another
motorist during a road rage incident in Livermore.

The suspect is 26-year-old Demarionte Smith, a resident of Oakley. Smith remains in custody in Seattle, pending extradition to
Alameda County.

Smith is believed to be responsible for a shooting that happened on March 11.

The gunfire erupted shortly before 5 p.m., near North Vasco Road and Dalton Avenue. The roadway was closed
and traffic detoured for several hours, while investigators combed the area for evidence.

A witnesses recorded the shooting incident on video. This evidence was turned over to
Livermore investigators. It shows the victim exiting a vehicle being shot, moments after a
second motorist exited another vehicle. The victim was struck immediately and collapsed to
the ground.

Responding officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound, who was transported to
a hospital for medical treatment. The victim is still recovering from injuries, according to a
prepared statement released by Livermore PD.

The Livermore Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau identified Smith as the
suspect. Evidently, Smith fled several states trying to avoid being arrested.

On April 1, Smith was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force.
Multiple charges have been filed against Smith. He is charged with attempted murder, and
intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury. Additional charges include
assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
