Parole Compliance Check Leads to Drug Bust and Child Endangerment Charges at Vista Hotel
VISTA, CA — “On Wednesday, March 19, just after 11:30 a.m., deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station conducted a parole compliance check on James Butler (DOB 01/12/1980) at a hotel room he was living in located in the 600 block of Sycamore Avenue. Butler was in violation of the terms of his parole. State Parole was notified.
During the compliance check, deputies found Butler was in possession of nearly 50 grams of methamphetamine.
They also found what appeared to be the makings of a Butane Honey Oil lab (BHO) inside the hotel room. The Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) and County Hazmat responded and took over the scene.
Butler was arrested for selling a controlled substance and violating parole.
Butler’s wife, Kelly Butler (09/26/70), was also arrested. Both James and Kelly Butler are facing child endangerment charges after deputies learned their child was also living in the hotel room.
San Diego County’s Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) Department was contacted. After a preliminary investigation, CFWB placed the child with other family members.
