Two Suspects Charged in Organized Retail Theft of Baby Formula in Yolo and Sacramento Counties
WOODLAND, CA — The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office has filed multiple felony theft charges against two suspects following a series of baby formula thefts from Target stores in Yolo and Sacramento County.
On January 22, 2025, felony charges were filed against Bryce Johnson, 19, of Sacramento, and Isaiah Wilson, 18, of West Sacramento. Both suspects are charged with conspiracy to commit theft, two counts of grand theft, two counts of second-degree burglary, and organized retail theft. Additionally, they face a misdemeanor charge of resisting a peace officer and enhancements related to their criminal histories. The suspects are scheduled for arraignment on January 23, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 1.
The charges stem from theft incidents on January 17, 2025, when suspects allegedly stole large quantities of baby formula from multiple Target stores. The West Sacramento Police Department was alerted to the thefts and located the suspect vehicle later that evening. Upon attempting a traffic stop, the suspects fled on foot but were later apprehended by officers. A third suspect remains at large. A search of the suspect vehicle revealed more than 100 cannisters of stolen infant formula.
Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig emphasized the impact of such thefts on businesses and families, particularly those struggling with the rising costs of essential products. He stated that Proposition 36, passed by California voters in November 2024, provides new legal tools to prosecute retail theft offenders more effectively. Reisig reaffirmed the commitment of his office to enforcing the law and addressing the ongoing issue of organized retail theft.
