Working in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service, Berkeley police arrested Jaelin D. Castille, 25, of Lathrop. Castille was taken into custody on January 27 at 7:25 a.m. He remains at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail with bond for release denied.

Castille was booked on suspicion of the following charges –

* Shooting at an inhabited dwelling/vehicle
* Carrying a concealed firearm
* Carrying a loaded firearm
* Addict in possession of a firearm

On January 16, police arrested John Sanders, a 49-year-old Emeryville resident, in connection with the same shooting. Sanders, a previously convicted felon, is however no longer in custody at the county jail.

Multiple charges have been filed against Sanders. His charges include shooting at an occupied vehicle, carrying a concealed loaded firearm, and firearm discharge with gross negligence. He is also charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Castille and Sanders each have prior convictions. Castille was sentenced to probation in 2022 for carrying a concealed firearm inside a vehicle. Sanders has prior convictions for assault with a firearm and possession of cocaine base for sale.
