Deputy Foils Burglary in Progress in Nevada City, Two Suspects Arrested

“Nevada City, CA – A man and woman were arrested on the evening of Jan. 7 and booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on the morning of Jan. 8 after they were caught in the act of breaking into a private residence.

While on routine patrol in Nevada City on Jan. 7, a vigilant deputy observed what appeared to be a burglary in progress at a private residence, located on the 13000 block of Sadie D Dr. in Nevada City. Additional deputies responded to the residence to assist.

One suspect, identified as Everette Shane Nelson, 53, of Nevada City, was intercepted at the front door and detained. The second suspect, identified as Anna Rochelle Newman, 36, of Grass Valley, was determined to be inside the residence. She exited the residence after receiving verbal commands and was detained without incident. A search of the residence by deputies and K9 Riggs revealed no further suspects. The homeowners were not present for the incident.

Nelson was arrested for second degree burglary – 459 PC and possession of unlawful paraphernalia -11364(a) HS. Newman was arrested for second degree burglary – 459 PC; false personation of another – 529(a) PC; carrying a switchblade knife – 21510(B) PC; possession of unlawful paraphernalia – 11364(a) HS; and for her two outstanding felony no-bail warrants out of Petaluma and Santa Rosa.

Residents who see suspicious activity in their neighborhoods are encouraged to call 911.”
