Siskiyou County Man Arrested, Accused of Fatally Shooting His Mother
A Siskiyou County man is in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of his mother.
According to a press release by the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on October 2 to a residence in an unspecified area, where they discovered Mary Loretta Curtz, 55, dead of a gunshot wound.
Andre Bryant Layne, 24, contacted SCSO dispatchers and claimed he had accidentally shot his mother with a stolen rifle, authorities said.
While deputies secured the scene, dispatchers kept Layne on the line and reportedly convinced him to leave the residence unarmed. He was then taken into custody and ultimately booked at the Siskiyou County jail.
The investigation is active, and officials are asking anyone with information to contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office at 530-841-2900.
