Man and Juvenile Arrested in Connection with Alleged Armed Robbery at Redwood City Safeway

“On May 5th 2024 at around 12:44 in the afternoon Redwood City Police were dispatched to Safeway Sequoia Station on the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.  Safeway employees advised that one of the suspects brandished a handgun while stealing alcohol.  Responding officers disseminated a surveillance photo of the suspects and assisting units began circulating the area. They located two subjects matching the description in the parking garage located at 750 Marshall Street. Redwood City resident Walter GonzalezHernandez (18) and a 17-year-old male Redwood City resident were positively identified as the suspects. A lighter that resembled a black handgun was located on GonzalezHernandez.

GonzalezHernandez was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for robbery and conspiracy charges. The juvenile suspect was housed at the San Mateo County Youth Services Center for the same charges.”
