Los Angeles Police Arrest Man for Alleged Kidnapping of Metro Bus Operator

The Los Angeles Police Department recently arrested an individual for allegedly kidnapping a metro bus operator. The bus had not been carrying any passengers at the time, authorities said.

According to a press release by the LAPD, Central Area patrol officers received a radio call reporting a hit-and-run near the 900 block of West Olympic Boulevard on the night of March 20. Responding officers learned that an individaul had allegedly entered a Metro bus in the area of Spring and 7th Streets, threatened the bus operator, and ordered the operator to “just drive.” The individual also allegedly reached into their waistband to imply being armed.

The bus operator tried to make a left turn onto Georgia Street when the suspect allegedly grabbed the steering wheel, causing the bus to collide with several vehicles, one of which was occupied. The bus then collided into a hotel. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, police said.

A BB gun was recovered from the sidewalk near the bus.

Both the bus operator and the occupant of the vehicle in the collision were taken to an area hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department medics. The bus operator was later released, while the vehicle occupant is reportedly in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as Anai Lindsey, 24, was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and is being held on $100,000 bail.
