Suspected Child Predator Arrested in Salinas

“On Monday March 25, 2024, at about 1600 hours, Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 19000 block of Cortina Court for a report of an incident involving lewd and lascivious acts with a juvenile.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that a juvenile victim had disclosed details to family about an incident involving 36-year-old Daniel Ezra Gomez Jr.

Gomez Jr. was reported to have committed lewd and lascivious acts with a juvenile under the age of 10. Gomez Jr. was confirmed to be a registered sex offender who was in compliance with his registry. Investigating deputies were able to obtain enough information to arrest Gomez Jr. He was taken into custody without incident.

Gomez Jr. is an actively registered sex offender. He was convicted in 2008 in Monterey County for violation of 288a(i) PC, Oral Copulation with a Drugged Victim. He was released in 2014.

Gomez Jr. was booked into the Monterey County Jail for violation of 288(a) PC, Lewd and Lascivious Acts With a Child Under the Age of 14 and 288.7(b) PC, Oral Copulation Involving Victim Under the Age of 10.

Bail was set at $1,100,000.00. Charges will be forwarded to the Monterey County District Attorney”
