Delano Police Increase Efforts to Combat Reckless Driving

“On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at approximately 10:04 pm, Delano Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a gold 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis near Cecil Avenue and Randolph Street for reckless driving. The vehicle was impounded, and the driver, Robert Hulsey, 26, of Delano, was issued a citation for reckless driving and illegal speed contest. Case No: 24-00677

On Saturday, March 9, 2024, at approximately 10:42 pm, Delano Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a red 2021 Jeep Gladiator in the 2600 block of Silano Drive for reckless driving. The vehicle was impounded, and the driver, Chrystian Martinez Jr., 18, of Delano, was issued a citation for reckless driving. Case No: 24-00720

On Sunday, March 10, 2024, at approximately 7:00 pm, Delano Police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Quail Hollow Drive for a complaint of a motorist breaking traction and operating a vehicle unsafely. Officers located the involved vehicle, a gray 2023 GMC Yukon, in the driveway of a residence within the 600 block of Mallard Drive. Approximately $3,000.00 in damage was caused to the roadway. The vehicle was impounded, and Nicholas Benavidez, 28, of Delano, was arrested, booked, and transported to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office – Justice Receiving Facility for felony vandalism (to the roadway) and reckless driving. Case No: 24-0730

On Sunday, March 10, 2024, at approximately 11:25 pm, Delano Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a red 2003 Ford Mustang near 6th Avenue and High Street for reckless driving. The vehicle was impounded, and the driver, Frederic Soria Jr., 24, of Delano, was issued a citation for reckless driving. Case No: 24-00734”
