Yuba County authorities have arrested two people in connection with the discovery of card-skimming devices at local businesses.

According to a press release, deputies discovered a skimming device on a point-of-sale terminal at Walmart in Linda on February 14, following an employee’s report. Surveillance footage from February 11 reportedly revealed two individuals installing the device through the self-checkout line. The suspects’ vehicle and license plate number were captured.

On February 22, a review of Flock Safety license plate reader cameras located the suspect vehicle near Dollar General on McGowan Parkway in Yuba County. Detectives, suspecting a connection to the Walmart incident, investigated Dollar General and reportedly found a second skimming device.

Investigators worked to identify the suspects and secured a Ramey warrant for their location. With the assistance of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, authorities served the warrant on the 3400 block of Mayfair Drive in Sacramento.

Robert Wisek, 39, and Alexandru Capatina, 28, were arrested without incident and booked at the Yuba County jail on burglary charges.
