NOVATO — A construction worker riding a bicycle at midnight was arrested for possession of firearms and illicit drugs. Turns out he was on probation for a prior conviction, notwithstanding his 19 other previous arrests.

A Novato officer arrested Travis L. Wine, 28, of Novato, near the intersection of Redwood Boulevard and Ranch Drive. Wine was subsequently booked into Marin County Jail on February 18 at 12:27 a.m. Bond for release from custody was set at $25,000.

Wine was riding his bike without any lights, which attracted the attention of the officer. His status as a probationer prompted a search.

In a prepared statement Novato police said. “The officer found drugs, paraphernalia, a loaded semi- automatic firearm. It had a large-capacity magazine with 20 rounds inside, and there were burglary tools in Wine’s possession.” Upon further investigation it was determined that the firearm was stolen in Sacramento.

Wine has previous arrests for battery, burglary, grand theft, robbery, among other offenses. His other arrests involved making criminal threats, possession of controlled substances, identity theft, and shoplifting.
