Woman Arrested on Felony Vehicle Theft Warrant During Traffic Stop in Calaveras County

Calaveras County authorities recently arrested a woman on an outstanding felony warrant for vehicle theft during a traffic stop in Valley Springs.

According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a vehicle stop in the vicinity of Valley Oaks Shopping Center just after 12 AM on December 19. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Sierra Martin, 24, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and also turned out to have an outstanding felony warrant for vehicle theft out of San Joaquin County.

A passenger in the vehicle, Jonathan Morris, 30, was found to be on post-release community supervision. Deputies also searched the vehicle and reportedly discovered burglary tools, which included multiple keys for vehicles of the same make, as well as suspected methamphetamine.

Martin was taken into custody for her outstanding warrant, as well as suspicion of driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance. Morris was arrested for violating the terms of his probation, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of burglary tools, and probation violation.

Both individuals were booked at the Calaveras County jail.
