Stephanie Amesquita, 33-years-old of San Bernardino
Gullit Eder Acevedo, 30-years-old of San Bernardino
Edwin Pena 26-years-old of Los Angeles
Fernando Lopez, 44-years-old of Los Angeles
Vanessa Carrasco 40-years-old of Ontario

SUMMARY:
In September 2023, investigators from the Victorville Police Department began an investigation of a brutal assault that occurred in Victorville during a protest.  This was a multi-agency investigation with Upland Police Department, Fontana Police Department and Pomona Police Department when it was discovered a group of suspects in the assault were also responsible for other violent acts during protests in San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties.

Through continued investigation, eight suspects were identified as Edin Alex Enamorado, Wendy Lujan, David Chavez, Stephanie Amesquita, Gullit Eder Acevedo, Edwin Pena, Fernando Lopez, and Vanessa Carrasco.

On Thursday, December 14, 2023, search warrants were served at multiple locations in San Bernardino, Upland, Ontario, Riverside, and Los Angeles.  Evidence was collected and all eight suspects were arrested and booked in at the High Desert Detention Center for charges including PC 245 – Assault with a Deadly Weapon, PC 236 – False Imprisonment, PC 182 – Conspiracy and other felony charges.  All suspects remain in custody without bail.

Sheriff Shannon Dicus said, “What this group does is not protected by the first amendment.  It’s illegal to assault someone who doesn’t agree with you.  In San Bernardino County, I, along with our local chiefs of police will continue to uphold the law and protect citizens from this type of unlawful behavior.”
