Shasta County Authorities Investigate Alleged Hit-and-Run Collision, Assault

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at approximately 0700 hours, deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a head-on traffic collision in the 7000 block of Deschutes Road, in Palo Cedro. While responding to the location, witnesses advised both parties involved had fled the scene. The California Highway Patrol requested the Sheriff’s Office respond due to the collision occurring on private property.

CHP Northern Division Air Operations was able to locate one of the involved parties walking away from the collision. Deputies arrived on scene and learned from witnesses that the individual who was located was likely the victim and the collision appeared to be intentional, however, he was uncooperative in providing a statement as to what occurred. The individual did advise the unidentified party purposely struck his vehicle and assaulted him before they both fled the scene.

The unidentified party involved in the collision has not been located and no arrest has occurred at this time. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
