Originally published by the City of Campbell Police Department:

On November 14, CPD officers responded to a FLOCK (automated license plate reading camera) alert identifying a stolen vehicle that was reported from Sunnyvale. The vehicle was found to be in possession of Matthew Lara (34 years old from San Jose) and Jessica Walsh (33 years old from San Jose). Lara had an outstanding felony warrant and falsely identified himself to the responding officers.

In addition to Lara and Walsh being under the influence of a controlled substance, the couple was discovered to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, burglary tools, mail keys, and stolen personal property, all within the reach of a small child.

Lara and Walsh were arrested under numerous charges including child endangerment, possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary tools, stolen credit cards, mail, and other personal identifiable information, and various drug-related charges. Jessica Walsh was booked into the County Jail and released the next day. Matthew Lara was admitted to the hospital for medical attention with a warrant request.

By pairing cutting-edge technology with our investigative efforts, Campbell PD was able to extend interagency support in solving an auto theft case and act urgently to intervene in the safety of a young child. Our dedicated officers remain committed to making arrests and delivering proactive enforcement to uphold the safety of our community.
