“On October 28, 2023, deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station responded to a theft that occurred within the 81000 block of Contento Street, La Quinta in which several high value golf clubs and equipment were stolen from a vehicle. Once the report was taken, the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team assumed the investigation.

During the investigation, 59-year-old Jose Antonio Castillo a resident of Coachella was identified as the suspect. A search warrant was served by the city of La Quinta Special Enforcement Team in the 85000 block of Cairo Street, Coachella where Castillo was taken into custody. Evidence implicating Castillo in the theft was recovered, as well as numerous other suspected stolen items. Ammunition was also located during the service of the search warrant. Castillo was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, for possession of stolen property and felon in possession of ammunition.
