In the early hours of Tuesday, September 19th, a routine patrol by one of our diligent Corporals took an unexpected turn, resulting in the apprehension of a suspect with an active felony warrant and the discovery of a substantial quantity of illicit drugs and a loaded firearm.

The Corporal, assigned to provide additional patrol coverage for our local commercial businesses, was conducting routine surveillance in the vicinity of A Street and Lincoln Way. It was during this watchful patrol that the officer noticed a vehicle that raised suspicions due to apparent vehicle code violations.

With keen observation and a commitment to public safety, our officer promptly initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, a decision that would uncover a host of alarming revelations. The vehicle’s lone occupant, identified as 43-year-old Christian Lopez of Lodi, was found to have an active felony warrant issued by San Joaquin County.

A subsequent search of Lopez’s vehicle revealed a shocking cache of illegal substances. Over an ounce of suspected methamphetamine, along with 11 grams of suspected fentanyl, were seized, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Equally concerning was the discovery of items associated with illicit drug distribution, pointing to the potential scale of Lopez’s illegal activities.

The gravity of the situation escalated further when officers uncovered a loaded handgun concealed beneath the driver’s seat of the vehicle, raising concerns about potential threats to public safety.

Christian Lopez was taken into custody without delay and transported to the appropriate detention facility. As of the latest update, he remains in custody, facing a multitude of charges that include possession of a loaded firearm while being in possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Lopez’s outstanding felony warrant further compounds the legal consequences he now faces.
