Calaveras County Man Arrested for Alleged Possession of Narcotics for Sale

A Calaveras County man was recently taken into custody on a narcotics charge after the Sheriff’s Office learned of a possible probation violation.

According to a press release by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, deputies in coordination with the Probation Department contacted Joseph Bleak, 36, at a home on the 5000 block of Rippon Road in Valley Springs on August 31. Deputies sought to investigate allegations that Bleak was in violation of his probation.

A subsequent search of Bleak’s vehicle yielded the discovery of illegal drugs concealed within an ice chest. Specifically, law enforcement uncovered 66 grams of fentanyl, which were individually packaged for sale, estimated to be equivalent to around 600 individual doses. Additionally, over 17 grams of methamphetamine were found, estimated at approximately 170 individual doses. Alongside the narcotics, officers also identified drug sales paraphernalia, indicative of potential distribution activities.

A search of Bleak’s vehicle reportedly turned up illegal narcotics hidden in an ice chest. Deputies found 66 grams of fentanyl packaged for sale, estimated to make up around 600 hundred individual doses, as well as over 17 grams of methamphetamine. Deputies also reportedly found drug sales paraphernalia and indicia of possible distribution.

Bleak was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale and probation violation.
