“Two guns from two separate cases were taken off our streets as increased patrols focused on gang activity continued into the weekend.
The latest incident occurred on Saturday when Officers on patrol pulled over a car in the area of Marchant Street and Maple Avenue. The 17-year-old passenger got out of the car and ran. As he was fleeing from officers, he threw a loaded gun.
The 17-year-old was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on gun-related charges.
A day before, Officers spotted a 15-year-old smoking marijuana with his friends at a park on E. Front Street. The 15-year-old also ran from Officers and tossed a gun. He was taken into custody, and the gun was recovered from underneath a parked car. An extended 30-round magazine and gang index were also seized.
The 15-year-old was booked into Juvenile Hall on the following charges: carrying a concealed firearm in public, minor in possession of a firearm, minor in possession of live ammunition, resisting arrest, and gang enhancements.

As he was running from the Officers, he threw away a loaded handgun. The 17-year-old was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Jail on charges related to firearms.
A day earlier, Officers saw a 15-year-old boy smoking marijuana with his friends at a park on E. Front Street. The 15-year-old also ran from Officers and threw a gun. He was eventually apprehended and the gun was recovered under a parked car. They also seized a 30-round extended magazine and gang indicia.
The 15-year-old was booked into Juvenile Jail on the following charges: Carrying a Concealed Firearm in Public, Minor in Possession of a Firearm, Minor in Possession of Live Ammunition Resisting Arrest, and Gang Related Charges.”
