GREEENBRAE —Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery of a motorist stopped at a red light. They were apprehended following a three-month investigation of this crime, which occurred in the small unincorporated community of Greenbrae.

The victim was robbed was at the intersection of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and La Cuesta Drive, west of U.S. Highway 101. Her serenity was shattered April 20 at 8:30 a.m., when a rear window of her vehicle was smashed suddenly.

One of the suspects who was wearing a mask used a gun to break the window. Then he reached inside the broken window and stole the woman’s belongings that were on the seat.

A statement released by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said. “The victim quickly reacted and reversed her vehicle into the suspect. The suspect sustained injuries but ultimately got into a getaway vehicle and fled from the area.”

During three months that followed, an investigation led to the execution of several search warrants. The Berkeley and San Pablo police departments assisted in the investigation and helped identify the suspects.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office arrested David A. Cardenas, a 22-year-old roofing company employee, on July 24 in Richmond. He was taken into custody when he showed up for an appointment with his probation officer at the Contra County Probation Office. He remains in custody at Marin County Jail.

The suspected getaway driver arrested is Joseph Cardenas, 25, of San Pablo. He was already in custody on suspicion of committing other crimes in Marin and Contra Costa counties.
