In the months of March and April 2023, a series of incidents involving indecent exposure were reported by residents in the vicinity of the 1600 block of East Ventura Boulevard in the City of Ventura. According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Det. Mitchell Peterson, the suspect involved in these incidents was observed “exposing himself and engaging in lewd conduct,” causing public concern.

On the same day, approximately one mile away in the 700 block of Camarillo Center Drive, another incident of indecent exposure was reported. Following thorough investigations by the Camarillo Investigations Bureau, it was determined that the perpetrator responsible for the initial two incidents was also involved in the third incident.

A subsequent incident, constituting the fourth reported case of indecent exposure, transpired on May 9, 2023, in the 700 block of Paseo Camarillo. Law enforcement deputies promptly responded to the scene and established the identity of the perpetrator as 26-year-old Woodland Hills resident Shayan Carpio, suspected as the responsible for the previous three incidents.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Carpio, charging him with three counts of indecent exposure. Carpio was subsequently apprehended and booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility, where he remains in custody, with his bail set at $25,000.00.
