Arrest made in Atlantic Street Restaurant Shooting

A shooting incident occurred in the early hours of March 25th, 2023, in the 300 block of Atlantic Street. According to reports, 53-year-old Donald Heaton became upset after he was removed from a business by staff. He made verbal threats towards the staff and then walked to his vehicle parked nearby. As Heaton drove past the business, he fired three rounds towards the building. Fortunately, no patrons or staff were injured in the incident.

Following the incident, officers were able to identify Heaton and his vehicle through evidence at the scene and witnesses. On March 28th, the West Sacramento Police Department stopped Heaton and he was taken into custody by the Roseville Police Department investigators.

Heaton was ultimately booked into the South Placer County jail under a no bail warrant. He was charged with several offenses, including making verbal threats, discharging a firearm at an occupied building, and assault with a deadly weapon.

The Roseville Police Department has thanked the West Sacramento Police Department and witnesses for their assistance in the apprehension of Heaton. The department has also reminded the public that incidents like these will not be tolerated, and that the department will work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.
