Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

Corona, CA – A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a violent assault with a hatchet and knife at a Planet Fitness location in Corona. The incident took place on March 14, 2023, at around 9:20 AM, and involved Ronald Chand, a 30-year-old resident of Santa Ana, and a 41-year-old male resident of Riverside.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim with several stab wounds to his upper body. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released. Chand was being detained by several citizens, and officers arrested him at the scene.

According to the Corona Police Department, the incident began in the parking lot when Chand approached the victim and assaulted him with a hatchet and knife. The two ended up inside Planet Fitness, where Chand held the victim at knifepoint for a short time before being disarmed and detained with the assistance of bystanders.

Chand was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries he sustained before the officers arrived. After being discharged, he was transported to the Robert Presley Detention Center and booked on suspicion of attempted murder. His bail has been set at $1,000,000.
