A man was found dead in a front yard in Jurupa Valley, Riverside, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Station responded to the 10800 block of Bellegrave Avenue after receiving reports of an unresponsive male surrounded by four dogs. Upon arrival, deputies found the man, later identified as Salvador Mateo, 42, with multiple dog bites. Despite efforts to save his life, Mateo was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Investigators took over the case and determined that Mateo was hired to do some construction work at the property. When he arrived at the location early, the resident was not home. Mateo then entered the property and was attacked by the four dogs. Riverside County Animal Control officers secured the animals at the scene.
