ARRESTS MADE IN FATAL DRIVE-BY SHOOTING

“RIVERSIDE, CA – On Sunday, September 19, 2021 at approximately 11:26 a.m., the City of Riverside’s Public Safety Communications Center received several 9-1-1 calls regarding a drive-by shooting that occurred at the intersection of Tyler Street and Arlington Avenue, located in the Arlanza neighborhood of Riverside.

When Riverside Police Officers arrived, they found a silver sedan in the roadway with a male adult victim inside who appeared to have been shot. Paramedics with the Riverside Fire Department also arrived and began lifesaving measures on the man. He was then transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Damian Preciado.

Detectives with the Robbery – Homicide Unit, along with Specialists from the Forensics Unit, responded and assumed the investigation. They have been assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office and Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, along with the Riverside Police Department’s Gang Intelligence Unit and Crime Analysis Unit.

During their investigation, detectives learned the identities of two suspects involved in this fatal drive-by shooting. With assistance from the Riverside Police Department’s METRO Team, Freddy Cebrero, 27-years-old of Riverside, was located in Yucca Valley on December 28, 2021 and safely apprehended. He was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and weapons violations.

Then on January 11, 2022, Francisco Rodriguez, 23-years-old of Riverside, was located by the METRO Team near Van Buren Boulevard and Philbin Avenue in our city and safely apprehended. He was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center also for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and weapons violations. Both suspects are currently being held in custody without bail.

This investigation is still ongoing and there are no further details to release at this time.
