The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s East County Major Crimes Sexual Assault Unit—while staffed by a coed team of seasoned law enforcement professionals who may have “seen it all” by now—could well have been taken aback with the report they received on January 25, 2023 indicating that Moorpark resident Kevin Rojas, an adult male, was engaged in ongoing sexual contact with an underage female working at the same Thousand Oaks restaurant where he was employed.
According to VCSD spokesperson Detective Nicole Adrianzen, Rojas and the minor female were reported to have been involved in “a variety of sexual acts,” many of which Rojas had been in the habit of recording on video. The information received by the Major Crimes Sexual Assault Unit further indicated that Rojas was plying the girl with methamphetamine and had been providing another juvenile female at the restaurant with “intimate body pictures” of himself.
The investigation lasted more than a month, during which detectives gathered sufficient evidence of major felony activity to earn them an arrest warrant with Rojas’s name on it. Deputies made contact with Rojas at the restaurant and took him into custody late on the morning of March 1st.
He was transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on the following charges: unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who was more than three years younger than the accused, sodomy against a minor, oral copulation with a person under the age of 18, possession of child pornography, knowingly sending or bringing into the state state, or possessing, producing, or printing child pornography for distribution, distribution of child pornography to a person under the age of 18, and being a person 18 years of age or over who unlawfully furnished a controlled substance to a minor.
He remains in custody with his bail set at $500,000.
