“On Thursday, January 26 2023, at approximately 5:19 p.m., Monterey Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Figueroa and Franklin in reference to a dumpster fire. This fire damaged the dumpster and wall of a nearby building. The Monterey Fire Department extinguished the fire.

On Friday, January 27 2023, at approximately 5:48 a.m., Monterey Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Del Monte in reference to a vehicle and fence on fire. This fire damaged two vehicles and a nearby fence. The Monterey Fire Department extinguished the fire.

On Friday, January 27 2023, at approximately 6:01 a.m., Monterey Police Department officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Webster in reference to another dumpster fire. This fire damaged the dumpster. The Monterey Fire Department extinguished the fire.

No one was injured as a result of these fires. The investigation revealed Stanley Edwards, 63 years old, of Salinas started the fires. Edwards was located and arrested on January 27, 2023, for the following charge: California Penal Code (PC) 451(d) – Arson. Edwards was transported to and booked in the Monterey County Jail. His bail was set at $50,000.
