“Our Property Crimes Unit served a search warrant at a residence in Orangevale on January 19th, recovering nearly $5,000 worth of construction items that were fraudulently purchased.

The suspect, 26-year-old Jesse Hernandez, had purchased the tools and items at six different Home Depot stores across the region with a company-assigned Home Depot credit card, in November of 2022. Hernandez began making the fraudulent purchases several days after being let go from his job; he also did not return the company-issued equipment he was lent while he was employed. A lengthy investigation by our property crimes detectives revealed surveillance at all six Home Depot stores showing Hernandez fraudulently purchasing numerous items with the credit card between November 25th and December 6th of 2022. Detectives recovered most of the items from Hernandez’s home and vehicles and arrested Hernandez for burglary, grand theft, and unauthorized use of an access card without the owner’s permission.”
