On December 13th Deputies from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reporting a gunshot fired inside of a home off of Bentley Street in Waterford.
The caller was a roommate who lived in the residence. They reported another roommate, identified as Bradly Locklin (27), had fired a gun inside the house. The caller did not know what happened to cause Locklin to fire the weapon.
As Deputies arrived at the scene they discovered that there were other residents of the home that were still inside hiding in one of the bedrooms. Deputies attempted to get them out however, the residents did not feel safe leaving the room.
As Deputies were devising a plan to get the other residence to safety, Locklin walked out the front door brandishing a firearm. Deputies yelled for Locklin to drop the weapon. Locklin fired at least one shot and one of the Deputies returned fire with a single shot hitting Locklin.
Deputies then began life saving measures until emergency personnel arrived at the scene. Locklin was pronounced dead at the scene having succumbed to his injury.
All other residents at the home were unharmed.
The Deputy who fired the shot at Locklin was placed on administrative leave per the Department protocols. The criminal investigation is being handled by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office. Internal Affairs is conducting an investigation into the officer involved shooting.
