Gang member apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder

“Today, MADCAT and PCU detectives were conducting follow-up regarding a shooting which occurred a couple weeks ago on England Avenue in north Salinas.

Detectives were looking for 32-year-old, Henry Lechuga of Salinas. Lechuga is a gang member with an extensive criminal history. Lechuga also had a warrant for violation of Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) and attempted murder.

While detectives were doing their follow-up in the 600 Blk of Palma Avenue in the city of Salinas they noticed Lechuga standing next to a vehicle.

Detectives attempted to make contact with Lechuga when he ran from the vehicle. After a brief chase, detectives took Lechuga into custody.
Another subject, 31-year-old, Joseph Onteverio was in the vehicle and attempted to leave. He was also arrested.

Lechuga was booked into county jail on multiple arrest warrants. Onteverio was booked into county jail for violating Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).”
