Yuba County man accused of sexually assaulting preteen girl

A Yuba County man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a preteen girl.

The Sheriff’s Office has identified 18-year-old Kevin Vang of Olivehurst as the primary suspect in the alleged rape and sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl, whom he is accused of enticing with the promise of buying her a vape pen.

Authorities say the girl snuck out of her house and Vang picked her up, assaulted her in another location, then dropped her off near her home. Investigators later developed suspicion that Vang had used a similar M.O. on other victims.

Vang was arrested on August 1 and booked on suspicion of rape and lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, with bail set at $200,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
