“Around 2:30 pm on Thursday, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to MAGEC and the Civil Unit were investigating a 30 year old woman who was wanted for shooting a man in July and being a felon in possession of a gun. She was also due to be evicted from her apartment located near Valentine and San Jose in Fresno. However, due to the potential danger she presented, deputies did not approach the unit. Instead, they waited in the nearby area. She later drove out of the apartment complex and deputies made a felony vehicle stop. Deputies detained the woman and placed her in back of a patrol car. During this time, she was able to slip out of her handcuffs and access a firearm she had concealed. She shot at deputies, who then returned fire and struck her. The woman was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition. No deputies or innocent bystanders were injured.

More specific details are not available at this time. Due to this occurring in the city of Fresno, the Fresno Police Department is handling this ongoing deputy involved shooting investigation.”
