19-year-old drunk driver arrested for fatal collision that killed bicyclist in Rancho Cucamonga

A 19-year-old San Bernardino woman was arrested after she allegedly struck and killed a female bicyclist with her vehicle while driving drunk.

The driver, Jessica Carrillo, was arrested at the scene of the collision. She was booked at West Valley Detention Center for gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The fatal accident took place at the intersection of Archibald Avenue and Pacific Electric Trail in Rancho Cucamonga, shortly before 7 p.m. on June 25th. Rancho Cucamonga police and paramedics arrived to find the female cyclist lying in the roadway, unresponsive. “The cyclist suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” according to Rancho Cucamonga police deputies.

Police investigation revealed that Carrillo was driving a black 2004 Acura TSX southbound on Archibald Avenue. The cyclist was riding westbound on the Pacific Electric Train and crossing Archibald Avenue when she was struck by Carrillo’s vehicle.

“Carrillo remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation,” said police.
