Murrieta, CA – On Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 2:09 a.m., the Murrieta Police Department Communications Center received calls regarding a fight between a security guard and a patron at The Cove Bar and Grill, located at 40675 Murrieta Hot Springs Road, in the city of Murrieta. Witnesses reported that the patron had been struck by a security guard and was unconscious in the parking lot.

Officers from the Murrieta Police Department and Paramedics from Murrieta Fire & Rescue responded and found the female patron requiring medical. The victim was ultimately transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries. The security guard left the scene prior to police contact.

Due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, Detectives from the Murrieta Police Department Detective Bureau later responded and assumed the investigation. The security guard was identified as 24-year-old Kingtupu Logotala of Hemet. Murrieta PD Detectives located Logotala later that day and interviewed him. He was ultimately arrested and booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center for Assault with a Deadly Weapon (245(a)(1)PC) and Battery Causing Serious Injury (243(d)PC). He has been released on $25,000.00 bail.

Based on statements taken from witnesses at the scene and video provided by The Cove Bar and Grill, it appeared a verbal altercation took place prior to the physical altercation. The investigation is ongoing and Detectives are still in contact with the victim.

Detectives are attempting to identify several witnesses to the incident who left the scene before Officers could interview them. Anyone with information is asked to please contact Detective Ryan Hollenweger at (951) 461-6361 or Sergeant Miguel Garcia at (951) 461-6362. The case will be forwarded to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office for filing when the investigation is completed.
