Search Warrant Nabs an Occupied-Residence Drive-By Shooter

EASTVALE – An active, ongoing investigation into a May 22nd, 6:08 PM drive-by shooting continued until June 1, 2022, where Deputies had given immediate response to the 6500 block of Red Oak Drive in the City of Eastvale. Reports gave descriptions of an individual inside a moving vehicle, who’d fired multiple rounds at an occupied residence – then fled.

None of the the gunfire struck victims. The several parked vehicles in the driveway, however, sustained significant damage.

Investigators from Jurupa Valley Station launched a shooting investigation. Follow-up interviews revealed that the gunfire stemmed from an internal family dispute.

As a result, the suspect was ID’d as Juan Huerta. Jurupa Valley Station investigators and Special Enforcement Team members served a search warrant on June 1st in the 2900 block of Missouri Avenue in the City of South Gate.
The search revealed a handgun and numerous rounds of ammo for immediate seizure.

Arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm – with bail set at $500K – Huerta was subsequently booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.

Sergeant Bobby Albarran of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced, “Anyone with information regarding this shooting investigation # EV221420045 is encouraged to contact Investigator Komins from the Jurupa Valley Station at 951-955-2600.”
