“On May 26th, around 3:30 PM, Detectives from the Marin County Coordination of Probation Enforcement Team (COPE) performed a probation search on Binford Rd in Novato. While contacting the individuals within the RV, they located Michael Felix, a 29 year old male on Marin County probation, within the RV.

Felix had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. During their probation search of the RV, Detectives located a backpack with over 4.5 ounces of suspected crystal methamphetamine, a loaded .22 caliber firearm and additional drug paraphernalia.

Felix was provided with a free ride to the Marin County Jail where he was booked on the listed charges:

– Possession of drug paraphernalia
– Felony no bail Marin County Warrant
– Possession of a controlled substance for sale
– Felon in possession of a firearm
– Possession of a controlled substance while armed
– Violation of Marin County probation

The COPE Team is comprised of A Deputy from the Sheriff’s Office, an Officer from the Novato Police Department and a Marin County Probation Officer. The main focus of the Unit is to monitor high risk narcotics violators who have been placed on probation rather than serving time in custody. The goal of the COPE unit is to ensure that those individuals who have been granted the privilege of probation are leading law abiding lives.”
