“On April 10, 2022, at approximately 10:26 a.m. San Francisco Police Officers from Tenderloin Station responded to a call of a robbery in the area of Leavenworth and Eddy Streets.

Upon arriving, officers met with the victim, an 81-year-old male, who stated that he was walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by an unknown male who aggressively asked him for money. The victim stated that he told the suspect that he wasn’t going to give him money.

The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground and robbed him of his personal belongings. The suspect fled southbound on Leavenworth Street. The victim was treated and released at a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

On April 10, 2022, at approximately 9:59 p.m. San Francisco Police Officers from Mission Station responded to the 2100 block of Mission Street regarding a report of a carjacking.

Officers met with the victim, a 71-year-old female, who stated that she parked her vehicle on the 2100 block of Mission Street to enter a business across the street when she was approached by an unknown male who asked her for money. The victim told the male “no” and continued into the business. As the victim walked back to her car, she was approached again by the same unknown male who asked her for money and again the victim said “no.”

When the victim arrived at her vehicle and attempted to open the door, the unknown male took the victim’s keys and got into the driver’s seat of the vehicle. As the suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, he partially ran over the victim. The victim was treated at the scene by medics for non-life-threatening injuries.

On April 11, 2022, the stolen vehicle was stopped in Oakland by Oakland Police. The suspect, identified as Solomon Tolbert, 36, was located in the vehicle.

Tolbert was arrested on charges of carjacking (215(a) PC), elder abuse (368(b)(1)PC), and assault with a deadly weapon (245(a)(1) PC).

Through the course of the investigation of the Leavenworth Street robbery, investigators obtained probable cause that identified Solomon Tolbert as the suspect in that incident as well.
