Video Leads to Arrest for Catalytic Converter Thefts

Originally published as a Merced Police Department Facebook post – 

“On 5/1/22 at approximately 12:47 PM, Officers responded to St. Patrick’s Church on E. Yosemite Ave. for a report of theft of catalytic converters. During the investigation, video footage was obtained of the suspect vehicle involved in the thefts. Several officers recognized the vehicle as belonging to suspect Willard Weger (37). Weger is on active supervision by the Merced County Probation department with a GPS monitor. After pulling his GPS information, Weger was confirmed to have been at the scene during the time of the theft. He was contacted at his residence and arrested for theft and probation violations.
