Victorville man accused of following woman, leading police on pursuit

A 57-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly followed a woman who was out running and then led police on a vehicle pursuit in Rancho Cucamonga.

Thomas Silva, a Victorville resident, was booked at West Valley Detention Center for evading police and disregard for public safety. His bail was set at $100,000.

The woman, a resident of Rancho Cucamonga, called police around 3:30 AM on April 25th to report that a man was “was following her in his vehicle, as she was running,” according to the news release.

Police arrived in the area of Banyan Road & Day Creek Boulevard and found the Silva nearby, but he fled in his vehicle before police were able to contact him.

“Silva led deputies and the California Highway Patrol on a vehicle pursuit that terminated in the city of Duarte, after deputies conducted a pursuit intervention technique.” When Silva refused to exit the vehicle and surrender to police, deputies “deployed pepper balls into Silva’s vehicle.”

Silva finally got out and was subsequently arrested.
