Man drives with fentanyl, cash, stolen gun

“On Monday, April 11th, 2022, at about 8:00 PM, officers with the Red Bluff Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle due to an observed moving violation.

During the enforcement stop, officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, identified as Miguel Banuelos, 25, of Red Bluff. Banuelos is currently on parole through the California Department of Corrections for assault with a firearm.

Banuelos and his vehicle were searched per his parole terms. During the search of Banuelos’ vehicle, officers located approximately 500 pills of suspected fentanyl, 10.86 grams of suspected powered fentanyl, $1,a778.00 in cash, and a loaded stolen firearm, stolen from a vehicle in Red Bluff the week prior.

When officers attempted to place Banuelos under arrest, he fled the traffic stop on foot. Banuelos jumped a fence into a nearby trailer park. When Banuelos attempted to jump a second fence, officers caught up to Banuelos and prevented him from jumping the second fence and escaping. Banuelos was taken into custody without any further incident.

Banuelos was booked into the Tehama County Jail for,• Possession of controlled substance for sale• Transporting controlled substance for sale• Being armed while in possession of controlled substance• Felon in possession of a firearm• Felon in possession of ammunition• Possession of stolen property• Carrying a loaded firearm in public• A parole hold• Resisting arrest.
