Fresno man arrested on suspicion of kidnapping ex-girlfriend

Fresno Police have announced the arrest of a man on suspicion of abducting his ex-girlfriend in public.

33-year-old Jesus Benitez Jr. is accused of abducting his ex-girlfriend on the morning of Monday, March 21.

Officers had responded to the area of Fresno Street and Tyler Avenue, where witnesses reported seeing a woman being forced into the suspect’s vehicle.

Detectives took over the investigation and located Benitez’s vehicle in the Lane and Winery Area, and Benitez himself and the victim shortly thereafter. The victim had not been harmed, police said.

Benitez was ultimately arrested and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and domestic battery.
