Grover Beach Police: Carjacking suspect pulled from vehicle, held until officers arrived

An attempted carjacking suspect was arrested in Grover Beach after reportedly being pulled from the vehicle by a good Samaritan and held until officers arrived.

Just before 6:30 AM on February 13, police responded to the train station at Grand Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway where, they were told, a man was being pinned down near a vehicle.

Responding officers located a man — later identified as 26-year-old Sergio Deharo — being held to the ground by a group of people. Officers learned that Deharo had allegedly tried to carjack a woman as she was getting into her vehicle, only to then be pulled from the vehicle by a witness.

After a brief fight, Deharo was pinned down and held by several people until officers arrived.

Deharo was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of attempted carjacking, resisting arrest, and parole violation.
