Gilroy police have identified and arrested the primary suspect in connection to a fatal shooting back in November 2021.

The shooting took place on the evening of November 24, 2021, in the area of Monterey Street and Leavesley Road. The two occupants of a car had been shot at by an occupant in another car, and one of the victims — 43-year-old Jorge Barraza of Sacramento — was ultimately pronounced dead. The second victim’s injuries were not life threatening and were treated at a local trauma center, police said.

Investigators ultimately identified 20-year-old Nicholas Jose Carrillo IV of Morgan Hill as the primary suspect.

Carrillo was arrested on the morning of December 22 and booked on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and assault with a firearm.
