Robbery Suspect Arrested in Chico

On 1/2/2022, at approximately 5:17 pm, Chico Police Officers responded to 1000 Columbus Avenue on a report of a robbery. Officers arrived within minutes and spoke with the victim.

During the investigation, officers learned that 33-year-old Brandon Roades approached the victim armed with a handgun and demanded his property.

The victim did not have any property to give Roades and Roades fled on foot. As officers were investigating this robbery, Chico Police Dispatch received another robbery call in the parking lot of Walgreens (1042 Nord Avenue). Officers where already in the area when they noticed Roades jumping fences and stripping his clothes.

Officers established a perimeter and caught Roades trying to flee the property of 1060 Columbus Avenue. Roades was taken into custody without incident.

Officers walked the area were Roades was observed fleeing, and they located property belonging to the victim from Walgreens, a realistic airsoft .357 revolver, and clothing. Roades was later transported to the Butte County Jail where he was booked for numerous offenses to include 664-211 PC – (Attempted Robbery), 211 PC – (Robbery), 422 PC – (Criminal Threats), 496 PC – (Possession of Stolen Property), and 148 PC – (Resisting and Obstructing).
