Humboldt County man accused of lighting multiple debris fires in wooded area

A man was arrested on suspicion of arson after allegedly lighting multiple debris fires in Humboldt County.

Deputies responded just after 2:30 AM on December 9th to the area of Lucas Street and Myrtle Avenue in Eureka, where a man was seen allegedly lighting debris fires in a nearby wooded area, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies caught up with the man, later identified as 44-year-old Keith Howard Turner, attempting to start another fire along a trail. Fire personnel also responded to the area to extinguish the existing fires, which they did successfully.

Turner was taken into custody without incident and booked on suspicion of arson and probation violation.
