“On November 10, 2021, at approximately 4:30 a.m., patrol officers made a vehicle stop for a traffic violation in the area of Research Park Drive and Richards Boulevard.

Officers identified the driver as 30-year old James Mahoney-Thurman of Davis. Observations during the stop led to the discovery of a pump shotgun with a pistol grip and ammunition. Subsequent examination of the shotgun revealed no serial number on the weapon.

Mahoney-Thurman is legally prohibited from possessing ammunition or firearms. A thorough vehicle search yielded suspected stolen credit cards, suspected stolen catalytic converters, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia.

Mahoney-Thurman was placed under arrest and taken into custody without incident. He was lodged at the Yolo County Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm as well as a person prohibited from possessing firearm ammunition. The origins of the suspected stolen property are currently under investigation.”
